Sagemont Church and the power of church partnership with CarePortal

Date

Sagemont Church, named 2023’s Church of the Year, is significantly impacting children and families in Harris County, TX through their partnership with CarePortal. Despite challenges in one of Texas’ top counties for children in foster care, Sagemont has taken a proactive approach. Since joining CarePortal in late 2021, they’ve responded to over 170 requests and supported more than 550 children—an effort estimated to have an economic impact of $155,000. Through CarePortal, Sagemont is not only meeting immediate needs but also fostering lasting connections with children, families, agency workers and community champions.

CarePortal and Sagemont’s Approach to Ministry Initiatives

CarePortal seamlessly integrates into Sagemont Church’s ministry framework, significantly enhancing their community support initiatives and ministry efforts. Through this partnership, Sagemont and CarePortal share a mission to uplift vulnerable families and foster community unity. This collaboration optimizes resource allocation, ensuring a more impactful and sustainable approach to ministry, thereby strengthening their community outreach.

According to a member from Sagemont, “In a city full of challenges, this collaboration has made our efforts more impactful and our community stronger. In 2022, our church launched a Foster/Kinship ministry, initially facing difficulties in identifying families in need. Care Portal became our beacon of hope, enabling us to discover these families, address their needs, and build lasting relationships. This platform transformed our ministry, helping us establish trust and friendships, and grow into a cornerstone of our outreach efforts, serving with love, compassion, and dedication.”

A Story of Impact

CarePortal goes beyond logistical support; it fosters connections that transform lives. One example from Sagemont involves a single mother and her three young boys facing challenging circumstances. After being reunited, they found themselves homeless due to a severe rat infestation in their apartment. Through CarePortal, Sagemont provided immediate relief like temporary housing and essential items, alongside emotional and spiritual support.

During their interaction, the mother shared a detail—her childhood Bible was destroyed by the rats. Touched by her story, Sagemont rallied to restore hope and faith in this family’s life. They not only replaced the family Bibles but also facilitated transportation, provided furniture and helped them get connected to support programs. Today, this family thrives within Sagemont’s community, with the boys flourishing in a mentorship program and the mother actively supporting other women in similar situations.

Transformative Ministry, Reinforcing Relationships and Creating Hope

Sagemont’s transformative experience with CarePortal serves as a hope and inspiration for churches seeking to enact meaningful change in their communities. Many churches seek to have effective engagement and provide support for those in need. CarePortal addresses this challenge by bridging the gap between community needs and church resources, fostering partnerships grounded in trust, compassion and decisive action.

“For instance, imagine a single mother struggling to make ends meet. She feels alone and overwhelmed, unsure of where to turn for help. Through CarePortal’s efforts, her story reaches the church, where members rally to provide support, from offering childcare to providing groceries. This tangible expression of love not only meets her immediate needs but also begins to build a lasting relationship founded on trust and care” shares a Sagemont member. This direct engagement not only meets immediate needs but also nurtures enduring relationships founded on empathy and solidarity.

CarePortal exemplifies how technology and compassion converge to generate profound impacts within communities. For churches like Sagemont Church, it goes beyond a platform; it catalyzes transformative ministry, reinforcing relationships and creating hope. As Sagemont expands its outreach via CarePortal, they remain steadfast in embodying values of love, compassion and community service, making an enduring difference, one family at a time. Join Sagemont in being a congregation that makes a tangible difference through CarePortal. Together, we can extend a helping hand to those in need and foster lasting relationships grounded in compassion and community support.
